Twin Peaks - 11 Must-Do Rides

Twin Peaks (aka Horse Lake Mountain) is the backyard peak of the Lower Wenatchee Valley. The peak feels a world away (rather than a few miles removed) from Wenatchee and Cashmere. This post was first prepared in 2008 but we've just added to the listings and updated some of the information.

Devils Gulch Trail

This ride features buff trails, ponderosa pine forests, creek crossings, and steep sided canyons. The fires of 2012 had the trail closed earlier this spring, but the trail is open now and in good shape. Here are the details (and maps) of one the premier rides in the state.

Mission Ridge Trail

This scenic trail parallels the Devils Gulch Trail but remains high on an undulating ridge system. The fires of 2012 torched some of the surrounding forests, but most of the area benefited from the fire and it's fascinating to see how the fire behaved here. The trail is clear of fallen logs now so ride it, hike it, or run it.

Tibbetts Mountain

Tibbetts Mountain, near Cashmere, offers a variety of interesting hikes and rides. Some of these are easy, others are steep, white-knuckled prayfests on a bike. Although the Fischer Creek Fire burnt a lot of the ground here in 2005, the area is well worth a visit now. The access is short, the views beautiful, the wildflowers and birds spectacular in spring, the colors beautiful in autumn.

Trail Repair - Red Devil

On October 30, nine volunteer mountain bikers participated in a morning of repair work on the lower Red Hill Spur Trail, about 9 miles south of Cashmere.  Under the guidance of the Forest Service, workers drained and filled many of the potholes along the first two miles of trail above the Sand Creek Trailhead...
