Rocky Reach Trail - Alive at Last

At the ribbon cutting ceremony for the dedication of the newly completed Rocky Reach Trail, Bob Parlette joked that there were times he didn't think he'd live to see this day. The community owes Parlette--the very reason this new riverside trail exists is simply because Parlette wouldn't let it (or himself) die.

Rocky Reach Trail Dedication

The public is invited to celebrate opening of Rocky Reach Trail at Lincoln Rock State Park, 5:30 pm July 9. The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is celebrating the grand opening of the Rocky Reach Trail. The entire five miles is now paved and ready to roll.

Business As Usual? Hardly

I thought we would grab a cup of coffee at Pybus, but Glen Carlson will have no part of addling blubber to his bottom. “Let’s talk while we walk,” he says. So off we go on a most-pleasant walk along the Loop Trail. During the miles ahead we not only catch-up, but I learn about a most-awesome fitness program his company is sponsoring.

Rocky Reach Trail Finally a Go

 Finally the status of the Rocky Reach Trail has been settled -- orchardists opposing the trail lost their appeal with the Washington Supreme Court with a conclusive 9-0 decision. Read about the ruling and get a little history from Bob Parlette about the trail and a ridiculously long tussle.

Loop Trail - Pedestrian Bridge Status

June 11. An update from the City of Wenatchee indicates that the pedestrian bridge should be open for unrestricted public use again by early next week (probably Tuesday June 15).

Synopsis: Loop Trail Meeting

On August 4, over 200 people showed up to learn more about the future of the Eastside of the Loop Trail and to fill out a survey. The most important way to be involved right now is to fill out the survey. In late August, the results of the survey will be presented.

Bike Commuting - Tales of Joy and Fear

Jim Russell shares lessons learned from the seat of his bike. After trying it, he's discovered he likes commuting by biking. But as a community we have issues to overcome. Eveyone should try bike commuting occassionally and some of the issues will fix themselves.
