With the creation of this poem, the boys at the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center are showing they are Renaissance men with talents in both science and language. For scientists, they also show a good sense of humor.

Marathon Man

Kim Anderson writes, "Beware of dreams born in the dead of winter, they usually lead toward some form of escape." Anderson tells why this year's dreams didn't lead to a tropical beach or to powder skiing but to ... running a marathon?!

Marc Dilley recently submitted eight photos for the website with the message: "If you only pick one of these, please use the best: Tamaracks and Enchantments or Endurance." That elevated our blood pressure -- how dare he tell us what we should like best! Look at the pictures then give that elitist a piece of your mind.

Diary of a Mad Shoveller

My brother lives in the other Washington (the one back east getting pounded by snow). He sent me this predictable, yet very funny Diary of Mad Shoveller. I'm particularly happy this winter that locally we have the fruits of winter up high (great skiing in the mountains) without having to live with snow in the Wenatchee Valley.
