Seeing the Sleeping Lady

Are you seeing her right? Brenda Reid, a frequent visitor to the area, confessed in this email (below) that she'd been seeing Sleeping Lady all wrong. She also sent us a picture (below) as proof that she was finally seeing things straight.

"I've been visiting Leavenworth consistently for several years now taking in the sun, heat, scenery, visiting a few B&B's along the way and falling in love with Icicle Canyon.

I especially enjoy visiting the gardens at the Sleeping Lady resort off Icicle Road.  From there you get a majestic view of the mountain outline known as the "Sleeping Lady".   For years, I thought I was seeing what I thought was the profile of the Sleeping Lady.  Only today, it dawned on me.  I was looking backwards or in the opposite direction of the head lying down.  I won't even try to figure out the east/west/north/south, but after this picture it all came to light.   Primarily with the help of a friend, who was describing how he was going to climb the Bong Buttress, the "chin" of the Sleeping Lady.  This photo says it all. I can even see her forehead and long hair cascading down the mountain in greenery from the pine trees.  Lovely.

(In case you're in doubt, Lady's profiled face is on the left, her profiled feet on the far right. She's lying down which, of course, is why she's sleeping.)
