Leavenworth resident, Shane Wilder, took this picture early this week while salmon fishing near East Leavenworth Road. He says, "Taking pictures is my consolation prize because I catch around 1 Salmon for every 8 days of fishing. I love it though, there's such anticipation in catching the mother of all fish. The Indians around here worship the Salmon, but they are not the only ones: There is a Salmon sub-culture here that means business. Watching the weather daily for incoming rain or temperatures high enough to melt the mountain snow and bring the river levels up, setting your alarm for 3:30 a.m. everyday so you can get 3 hours of fishing before work...it's standard issue for those that have been seduced by the Salmon."
